Amarillo Running Hub at 1911 S. Georgia Launches Summer Race Series
Local races from the Georgia Street hub to Palo Duro Canyon and Lake Meredith draw on established venues and packet pickup routines.
How we reported this
Get Fit in Amarillo has scheduled five road and trail events through early September that all route through its 1911 S. Georgia St. location for registration and packet pickup.
The first event begins tomorrow morning when the store teams with Raíces en Ruta for a run and walk club gathering at the same address. With the next major race set for July 25, the string of starts shows how one storefront continues to serve as the practical center for organized running in the city.
Venues tied to one central hub
Packet pickup for the July 25 Hot Blooded race will occur at Get Fit on July 24 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The August 15 Run For Water event repeats the pattern with pickup on August 14 at the same hours and address. The September 5 Catfish Crawl adds a second Amarillo stop at the Georgia Street store on September 4 before moving to Harbor Bay at Lake Meredith for race-day pickup. These repeated visits to one fixed point reduce the need for separate registration sites and keep participants inside city limits until race morning.
The Fire Ball Half and 4 Mile on August 22 shifts the start to Mack Dick Pavilion inside Palo Duro Canyon State Park, yet still lists Get Fit as the organizer. That arrangement keeps trail runners connected to the same local contact point even when the course moves outside Amarillo proper.
Registration details set by the store
Entry for Hot Blooded, Run For Water and Catfish Crawl is listed at $30 for all distances when registered by the Thursday before each event, rising to $40 on packet pickup day. No race-day registration is offered for any of the three. The Run For Water listing notes that 344 runners are required to reach the $10,000 goal that would fund two wells through 25:35 Water. Shirts are promised only to the first 200 registrants for Hot Blooded and are not guaranteed after July 31 for Run For Water or after August 20 for Catfish Crawl.
Runners can find the full schedule and entry links on the events page at mygetfitplace.com/content/events. Packet pickup windows and the $10 late fee are posted there for each race, giving local participants a single place to check details before heading to 1911 S. Georgia St.
