Grassroots Groups Expand Youth Sports Access Across Amarillo

Kids, Inc. merged with TPYSF in 2025 to place four major baseball and fastpitch leagues under one roof.

The consolidation gives Amarillo families a single point of entry for Rotary Youth Baseball, West Texas Youth Baseball, Canyon Baseball and West Texas Fastpitch. The move followed months of talks among volunteer boards and arrived just before the Iron Plains Youth Football League opened registration in early 2026.

Programs scale up across the Panhandle

Kids, Inc. now serves more than 18,000 players each year with the help of 4,000 volunteer coaches. The organization marked its 79th season this spring. Amarillo Ice Sports, once limited to 32 skaters in 2009, now registers more than 1,000 youth and adult players. The Amarillo Wranglers 14U team returned from Odessa last month with a tournament title after facing squads from several states.

These numbers reflect steady growth in neighborhoods south and east of downtown, where synthetic-turf fields and weekend tournaments keep families on site from Friday night through Sunday afternoon.

New complex takes shape on donated land

Kids, Inc. has unveiled plans for a $30 million Phase One complex on 90 acres south of Loop 335. The site will include 60 acres of lighted synthetic turf. Organizers say the project will add capacity for baseball, softball, football and soccer once grading and drainage work finish.
